Tinkerbell, an 11 year old Pomeranian, presented to our Emergency Department as critically ill and severely anemic. Tinkerbell was admitted and received a blood transfusion for her anemia. Our Criticalist, Dr. Teresa Rieser, assessed Tinkerbell and her prognosis showed concern for an infection in her uterus and a mass in her urinary bladder. She was hospitalized and 2 days later, her uterus and the bladder mass were removed. Both were submitted to the lab for analysis and came back BENIGN and her red count was normal! This case certainly could have had a much different ending, so when we saw Tinkerbell back for her staple removal yesterday, there were smiles all around! We are so happy for Tinkerbell and her Mom 🐾💖👏
